air purifier placement and odours: an experiment

it has only been a few days so it might be too early to say conclusively, but putting one of my air purifiers directly in the path where most of the outside air enters my home (near my main door and my kitchen) has significantly cut down on the random odours that used to linger in my house at certain hours of the day (cooking smells from nearby homes mostly)
i remember reading this article from smart air filters a while ago: https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/where-best-place-put-air-purifier/ and i just took that at face value for odours too.
glad that i at least gave this a try!

3 month update
this has worked very well for me. unexpectedly well. if the cooking smells from nearby homes are too concentrated, it still lingers a bit, but it no longer goes beyond the entrance area and more importantly it no longer reaches the bedroom.
kinda sorta related maybe? saw this thread about purifier placement modeling and it does seem to suggest that the best place to put it near the source. but its a tenuous connection since they're modeling viral particles: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1814269229153038476.html
